Beyond The Wheel

Meet-Up at the Quartzsite Big Tent

During the big RV show in Quartzsite, Kenny & Sean had the opportunity to visit the Battle Born crew in the Big Tent. It was the first time at Quartzsite for both of us. Kenny was brave and stayed in his RV for 5 days at one of the LTVA locations. I was not as brave and drove in for the day from Tucson.

My impression of Quartzsite, just being there for the day, was it seemed like chaos and not an enjoyable boondocking experience.

Sabrina and I (Kenny) really enjoyed the boondocking. It was probably because we were parked with friends and created a small neighborhood. Every night we would all hang out around the campfire that was built in the center of our RVs. We would chat and swap road stories. We even were able to enjoy the sights of the lunar eclipse. During the day we would go on hikes and explore the surrounding areas, but as Sean said, if you are looking for peace this is not where you will find it.

Our meet-up at the Battle Born booth was on Wednesday, during the middle of the show. It was busy! People recognized us! It is always weird to me when people recognize us. Both of our YouTube channels are mid-range for subscribers in the RV space and our podcast only had 9 episodes. We met a lot of new people during the day as well. Kenny and I both enjoy meeting people, so that was an energy boost for us.

The best part of our day was talking to people about Battle Born batteries. Sure, they have a larger upfront cost over other batteries, but they end up cheaper per amp hour than other batteries and are worth every penny for the peace of mind. Each of us sharing our experience with the batteries allowed those that were curious to see the value from a non-salesperson. I would like to think we contributed to some sales! If not, it was fun talking to people about a product we are both real believers in.

Interested in learning more about the story behind the company and the batteries? We have a podcast and a video interview with Sean Nichols. Hint — they have a beginning similar to Apple 🙂

At the end of the day, we spent some time talking with Sean Nichols, Denis Phares, Dianne, and Jodi. They are real professionals, and all truly care about the customer experience. We really enjoyed getting to know them a little better.

Overall, the meet-up went well, and we were extremely thankful for the people that came to see us. For those unaware of the podcast, please check out some of our episodes on our website. They are also on iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher, and the other major podcast platforms. Our tag line is Get it in Gear because we are working hard to bring quality content about the companies, people, and ideas that are driving the RV industry forward.

Thanks again and we are already working on planning another meet-up. We may also have some live podcasts next time Kenny and I are in the same location.

Please contact us through our Contact Us page, and we can start a conversation.
